Mugshots of Prostituted Women

I first saw this poster in the documentary, Sex and Money: A National Search for Human Worth.  In the film, New York Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney uses these series of mugshots to explain why she believes prostitution should not be legalized in the United States.  Look at the transformation of each girl from her first arrest to her eighth.

"The U.S. Department of Labor estimates that over 100,000 children are currently involved in prostitution in the United States... Nationwide statistics indicate that 85 percent of [adults] involved in prostitution were sexually abused as children... The abuse they suffered as children makes them exceedingly vulnerable to predatory pimps, who feed on the abuse victim’s sense of guilt and worthlessness in order to coerce and manipulate her," writes researcher, Laura Coulter.  To read the rest of Coulter's brief article click here: www.huntalternatives.org/download/1646_portrait_of_exploitation_prism_magazine_photos.pdf
